Online Emergency Training

Core Competency in Emergency Response

In support of a local health department's initiative to become recognized by Project Public Health Ready (PPHR), we developed an online training course for all health department employees to become familiar with the Core Public Health Worker Competencies for Emergency Preparedness and Response as developed by the Center for Health Policy, a research center at the Columbia University School of Nursing. The online training course explained each of the nine areas of competency, in which all public health workers must be proficient, as it pertains to the policies and procedures of the local health department. The course also evaluated competency through scenario-based and multiple choice questions at the end of each module.
