After the severe weather experienced by the National Capitol Region in 2010, we received a high number of calls from many clients asking for advice on how to navigate a dual declaration of a severe winter storm and a snow storm. In coordination with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, we invited Council of Government members to participate in a unique financial recovery training designed to help jurisdictions maximize reimbursements from FEMA after their next declared disaster event.
Training began with a brief overview of FEMA’s Public Assistance program to establish a general foundation of understanding regarding project and cost eligibility. At training completion, attendees developed a list of action items to implement in their jurisdictions.
