Bristow Medical Center

Improving Healthcare in Rural Oklahoma
Bristow, Oklahoma

After an evaluation of the existing hospital in Bristow determined it wasn’t cost effective to renovate, we began master planning to identify the needs of the community. These findings influenced our design for the new 55,000-square-foot hospital and 8,200-square-foot administrative office building. The new two-story hospital was sited to take advantage of the scenic park setting of the facility.

The new Bristow Medical Center features a surgery suite with two operating rooms, clinic space for eight physicians, a 14-bed nursing unit, along with emergency, radiology, and physical therapy departments.  Spacious and cost-effective design highlights include a shared nurse station to reduce staffing costs, natural daylighting, and an open connection spine with views overlooking Lake Massena.

The slope of the site supports a unique opportunity to provide a main entrance at each level, allowing the hospital to be constructed next to the existing 1950s-era facility. Once complete, the existing facility will be demolished and the existing 1973s-era medical office building will be transformed into an administrative office building.
