Battlefield Parkway

Reducing Congestion and Commutes
Leesburg, Virginia

20

minute reduction in travel time for commuters

The Battlefield Parkway widening project in the Town of Leesburg and Loudoun County, Virginia, included twin 1,250-foot-long bridges over Tuscarora Creek and the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. Developing roadway and bridge plans for VDOT included a future median widening to six lanes without relocating utilities or acquiring additional right-of-way. The twin bridges were located partially on a curved alignment and sized based on a 100-year floodplain analysis.
