Riverside South

Coordinated Success
New York, New York

As part of a new $3.5 billion, 7.9-million-square-foot condominium project with a 21.5-acre riverfront park at Riverside South, on New York City's waterfront, we provided resident engineering and construction inspection services for four new bridges and one tunnel built parallel to the elevated West Side Highway. Street reconstruction included new water mains, sanitary and storm sewer systems, curbs and sidewalks, handicap ramps, paving, new and retrofit electrical system upgrades to the street lighting system.

acre riverfront park

In transforming raw land into cityscape, we overcame several construction challenges, including:

  • steel H-piles driven into bedrock for relieving platform construction
  • coordination of construction over active Amtrak railways
  • installation of temporary power lines and new gas, electric, water, and sewer lines under newly built roads

With construction now complete, all bridge and underground facilities are being turned over to either NYCDOT or NYCDEP for future maintenance.
