Prior to joining the firm, Hoole spent more than 20 years with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and more than eight years with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). In his role with Caltrans, Hoole was an office chief in the Division of Local Assistance, responsible for the allocation and authorization of locally obtained state and federal funds for California’s agencies. He also led implementation teams to deliver more than $2 billion annually for local transportation projects. In his new role with Dewberry, Hoole will be responsible for managing projects, coordinating with local agencies, assisting clients through the state and federal processes, and taking an active role in business development activities.

“We’re thrilled to welcome John to our growing transportation group here in Rancho Cordova,” says Dewberry Vice President Matt Satow, PE. “John’s background with Caltrans and FHWA will help us guide our clients through challenging project elements and will facilitate successful project outcomes.”

Hoole earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno (1991).
