Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced the promotion of more than 65 employees nationwide, including four staff members within the firm’s New York City office. The promotions coincide with Dewberry’s ongoing expansion of engineering and consulting services in the Northeast region, where the firm has practiced for more than 60 years.

  • Katherine Dewkett, PE, and Ozlen Ozkurt, PhD, PE, CFM, ENV SP, have been promoted to associate vice president. Dewkett manages the site/civil transportation department. She earned a master’s in civil engineering structures from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1984) and a bachelor’s in civil engineering transportation/structures from the University of Massachusetts (1982). Dewkett is a professional engineer in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and a member of the New York State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSTATE), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dewkett also served as a past president of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACECNY).

     

    Ozkurt serves as the water resources department manager and has extensive experience in civil engineering. She earned a doctorate in civil engineering from City University of New York (2006), and earned her master’s (1999) and bachelor’s (1997) in civil engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Ozkurt is a professional engineer in New York and Connecticut, and a Certified Floodplain Manager and Envision Sustainability Professional. She is a member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF), New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA), New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management (NJAFM), New York State Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association, Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), and ASCE.

  • Daren Dong, PE, ENV SP, LEED Green Associate, and Leonid Ostrovskiy, PE, have been promoted to senior associate. Dong is a senior project manager in the bridge structures group with an emphasis on complex structures. He earned his master’s in civil engineering/wood science and technology from Oregon State University (1999) and a bachelor’s in civil/hydraulics engineering from Feng Chia University (1993). Dong is a professional engineer in Connecticut and New York, an Envision Sustainability Professional, and LEED Green Associate. He is a member of ASHE and ASCE. Ostrovskiy is a senior project manager in the site/civil transportation department. He earned a master’s in engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (1996) and a bachelor’s in highway design from Lviv Polytechnic National University (1989). Ostrovskiy is a professional engineer in New York, and a member of ASHE and ASCE.
