Port Newark Container Terminal Solar Energy Project
12.02.2025
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) released its Net-Zero Roadmap detailing strategies and actions to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and to reduce direct emissions by 50% by 2030. To align with this roadmap, Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) partnered with Standard Solar Inc. for a 25-year power purchase agreement for a 7.2-megawatt solar installation project. We served as the Engineer-of-Record and provided site/civil engineering, hazardous waste/materials assessments and remediation, permitting and regulatory compliance, sustainability services, and periodic construction inspection. This project was designed to provide clean energy for the East Coast’s busiest and largest port by integrating large-scale solar power generation directly onto the port’s active operational footprint.
