The Crosstrail Boulevard Segment C project will extend the road between Sycolin Road and the Dulles Greenway, connecting to the existing Shreve Mill Road interchange. This includes a new four-lane, median-divided roadway; a multi-span bridge crossing the south tributary to Sycolin Creek; pedestrian facilities; and associated roadway, drainage, and multimodal infrastructure improvements. The project will also extend Compass Creek Parkway, creating a new intersection and improved connectivity with the town of Leesburg.

The new W&OD Trail overpass will provide a grade separation at Sterling Boulevard, eliminating the existing crossing to provide free-flow pedestrian and bicycle access for approximately 2,000 users per day. With the addition of the new pedestrian overpass, direct conflict between pedestrians and motorists will be removed, improving multimodal safety and community connectivity.

At the Route 7/690 interchange, work includes a new interchange, two roundabouts at the new ramp terminals, a shared-use path, and the reconstruction of the existing Route 690 bridge over Route 7. New pedestrian facilities will connect to the adjacent Centerfield Farm Road, and the Route 7 bridges over the South Fork Catoctin Creek will be widened and rehabilitated for increased mobility.

Dewberry previously provided comprehensive design services, including roadway, hydraulic, structural, traffic engineering, and environmental permitting. With the commencement of construction, the firm will now serve as the primary CEI consultant, providing on-site oversight, quality assurance/quality control reviews, roadway and bridge inspections, and construction administration services for the three projects.

The Crosstrail Boulevard project is expected to be completed in April 2028. The W&OD Trail anticipates completion in spring of 2028. The work at the Route 7/690 interchange is estimated to be completed in March 2029.
