Cunningham has nearly 20 years of experience in hazard mitigation, climate adaptation, and risk assessment and previously served as business strategy leader for the firm’s resilience solutions group. As business strategy leader, she was integral to the firm’s resilience growth initiative and evolution of the R4 group, while serving clients in a variety of markets, such as energy, environmental, federal, transportation, and water. In her new role, Cunningham will lead efforts to grow state and local climate adaptation and disaster support, as well as broadening service offerings for resilience planning and design.

Cunningham earned her master’s in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s in natural resource management and economic policy from Clemson University. She serves as vice president and board member for the National Hazard Mitigation Association and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Association of State Floodplain Managers, Disaster Recovery Institute International, North Carolina Association of Floodplain Managers, Project Management Institute, and the Virginia Floodplain Management Association.
