Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced the promotion of Dave Maxwell, PE, to president of its engineering practice. Maxwell is based in the firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office. In this role, he will oversee operations and growth for more than 10 operating units across 60 offices, which provide services to clients in the community facilities, education, energy, health and wellness, industrial, justice, real estate and commercial development, telecommunications, transportation, and water market segments.
Maxwell joined Dewberry in 2002 and has more than 30 years of experience. Prior to this promotion, he served as the operating unit manager for Dewberry’s Southeast and mid-Atlantic divisions, which generated more than $225 million in revenue in 2024. Maxwell currently oversees strategic growth areas for the company, including southeast transportation and serves as an operational leader for corporate strategy, including Dewberry’s strategic plan.
Dewberry CEO Donald E. Stone, Jr., says of Maxwell’s promotion, “Dave is a strategic and market-focused thinker. Maxwell earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia (1994).
