Shepard Hockaday, PE, LEED AP, has been promoted to executive vice president and is the operations unit manager for the firm’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural (MEPS) practice. He has over 30 years of experience and joined Dewberry in 2009. Hockaday received a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida (1988) and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University (1984). He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and Professional Engineers of North Carolina.

Those promoted to associate vice president include:

  • Lacey Martin is the regional director of southeast marketing. She has nearly 15 years of experience and supports marketing efforts and initiatives for the firm’s southeast operations. Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University (2007) and is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
  • Joe Wolhar, PE, is the building services structural department manager for the firm’s Raleigh office. He has over 35 years of experience in the design of various structural systems for commercial, educational, federal, healthcare, and industrial facilities, as well as water and wastewater treatment structures, site structures, and structural evaluations. Wolhar earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from North Carolina State University (1987 and 1984) and is a member of the National Civil Engineering Honor Society.
  • Johnny Wood PE, LEED AP BD+C, CxA, CPD, is a regional education market segment leader and leads the Raleigh office’s building engineering group. He has over 30 years of experience and earned an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology from Wake Technical Community College (1994). Wood is a member of the American Fire Sprinkler Association and American Society of Plumbing Engineers.
