Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Caroline Cunningham, AICP, CFM, ABCP, has joined the firm as an associate vice president and resilience solutions business strategy leader. Cunningham will lead resilience and hazard mitigation-related growth opportunities and strategic projects for federal, state, local, and commercial clients. She will be based in Dewberry’s Raleigh, North Carolina, office.
Cunningham has nearly 15 years of experience in hazard
mitigation, climate adaptation, and resilience planning; helping federal
agencies, state governments, and local municipalities plan for and recover from
a range of shocks and stressors. She has spent her career focused on climate risk
assessment, strategic resilience planning, risk communication, and grant
support, as well as business development, management, and operations. In her
new role as resilience solutions strategy leader, Cunningham will be
responsible for pushing the firm’s resilience services forward and integrating climate
considerations into all areas of the firm’s service offerings.

planning and ability to integrate science, engineering, and planning will be a
tremendous asset to our clients who are being impacted by climate change,” says

understanding of many areas of risk and resilience planning and solution
development, including with governments and utilities for multi-hazard
assessment, stakeholder engagement, and funding identification.”
Cunningham earned a master’s degree in city and
regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a
bachelor’s degree in environmental and natural resources management with a
concentration in economics from Clemson University. She is a board member for
the National Hazard Mitigation Association and a member of the American Society
of Adaptation Professionals.
