Dewberry has announced that Retired Maj. Gen. John Kem has joined the firm as a business development director for the federal market. Kem is based in the firm’s Fairfax, Virginia, office.
Prior to joining Dewberry, Kem spent more than 35 years
in the U.S. Army where he served as the commanding general of a U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers (USACE) division, engineer battalion commander, USACE district commander,
and other leadership positions at domestic and international military locations,
including Commandant of the U.S. Army War College. In his new role with
Dewberry, Kem will be responsible for growing the firm’s federal practice and supporting
its existing federal clients, including the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Geological Survey, and others.

we’ll be able to better serve our clients as they seek to overcome challenges
that are specific to federal agencies, and find innovative solutions,” says
Dewberry Executive Vice President and Federal Market Strategy Leader Phil
Thiel.
Kem earned two master’s degrees in business
administration and environmental engineering from Northwestern University, a
master’s degree in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of
the Armed Forces, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the U.S.
Military Academy.
