Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that John Hoole, PE, has been promoted to assistant business unit manager in the firm’s Rancho Cordova, California, office. His promotion supports the firm’s transportation practice in northern California.
Hoole joined Dewberry in 2020 and previously spent eight years with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and more than 20 years with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), where he was an office chief in the Division of Local Assistance, responsible for the allocation and authorization of locally obtained state and federal funds for California’s agencies. He also led implementation teams to deliver more than $2 billion annually for local transportation projects. In his new role as assistant business unit manager, Hoole will be responsible for supporting the transportation practice across northern California alongside Business Unit Manager Dennis Haglan, PE.
“John has brought a tremendous amount of knowledge and success to our transportation practice,” says Haglan. “His many years of experience with the FHWA and Caltrans allows him to have a greater understanding of their needs, and we’re thrilled to see him move into this role of assistant business unit manager where he can continue to serve clients and bring solutions to their challenges.”
Hoole earned a bachelor’s
degree in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno (1991).
