Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Nimish Desai, PE, has been named national director of the American Society for Highway Engineers (ASHE). He represents the Mid-Atlantic region. Desai’s three-year (2022-2025) term began with his installation at the 2022 ASHE National Conference in Columbus, Ohio, May 11-15. Desai is based in the Dewberry’s Baltimore, Maryland, office.
ASHE is an organization consisting of 7,000+ members, and more than 47 operating sections in eight regions throughout the U.S. At the national level, ASHE is operated by a board of directors. ASHE’s mission is to provide a forum for members and partners of the highway industry to promote a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation system through education, innovation, and fellowship.
Desai has more than 20 years of experience in civil and highway design, hydrology and hydraulics, drainage, stormwater management, total maximum daily load, and erosion and sediment control.
Desai earned a master’s in transportation from Morgan State University (2001) and a bachelor’s in chemical plant engineering from the University of Mumbai (1998). He currently serves as the president of ASHE – Mid-Atlantic Region, director of American Council of Engineering Companies – Maryland, and is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
