Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Dan Shepard has joined the firm to manage the control system cybersecurity department based in Huntsville, Alabama.
With nearly 20 years of experience, Shepard has joined the firm to lead control systems cybersecurity efforts in the federal and commercial markets. He will also be responsible for developing, leading, and growing the firm’s newly established design
center in Huntsville, which primarily supports clients in the federal market. Prior to joining Dewberry, Shepard worked for the Department of Defense (DoD) where he led and supported cybersecurity related acquisition, program management, and technical
initiatives for a variety of systems and operations. Most recently, he spent 10 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Huntsville Engineering Support Center and the Engineering Research Development Center’s Construction Engineering
Research Laboratory directly supporting the design and construction of DoD and other federal facilities.
“Dan’s background in the application of cybersecurity principles to control systems and the evaluation of emerging technology for building automation will be key in allowing us to meet the needs of our clients,” says Dewberry Vice President
Marvin Griffin. “We are thrilled to welcome Dan to Dewberry and look forward to his role in growing our federal practice.”
Shepard earned a master’s in building construction from Auburn University (2021), a bachelor’s in business administration and management from Columbia College (2008), and a bachelor’s in finance from the University of Alabama (2001).
He is a member of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium, National Fire Protection Association, Project Management Institute, and the Society of American Military Engineers. Shepard received numerous awards during his
time with USACE and the DoD, and has been published for his work on cybersecurity and facility-related control systems.
