A new section of the Central Florida Expressway Authority's Wekiva Parkway recently opened in Orange County, Florida. The 2.3-mile section of the parkway (State Road 429) was designed by Dewberry.

The Wekiva Parkway is a new high speed, limited access roadway in northwest Orange County. The new section includes three overpasses, a partial cloverleaf interchange at Kelly Park Road, and modifications to several local arterials. Major components of the design included enhanced aesthetics and environmental protection. The section of the parkway designed by Dewberry begins just north of Ponkan Road and extends north of Kelly Park Road.

Final construction of the parkway will complete the beltway around Orlando, relieving traffic on Interstate 4 and improving access to northwest Orange County and southeast Lake County.

"The ribbon cutting ceremony was an exciting milestone for residents and visitors of Central Florida," said Dewberry Associate Vice President Don Hammack, PE. "This project is an important link in the completion of the beltway around Orlando and provides improved access in an environmentally responsible manner."
