Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, was recently awarded a task order to provide disaster recovery support to Texas communities impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, winter storms, and flooding. The award was made under the firm's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contract (PATAC), via a joint venture with AECOM known as Nationwide Infrastructure Support Technical Assistance Consultants (NISTAC). Under this award, NISTAC will provide 46 specialists with technical assistance and grant development knowledge, including architects, engineers, construction managers, mitigation specialists, cost estimators, insurance specialists, and financial analysts, to assist impacted communities throughout the state.

NISTAC staff have supported previous disaster recovery efforts in Texas, most notably following Hurricane Ike where specialists provided technical assistance for the repair and replacement of a wide range of damaged infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, public safety facilities, ports, and utilities. Recovery efforts focused heavily on mitigation measures to provide for a more resilient public infrastructure system throughout Texas.
