Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, is proud to announce the promotion of Jamal Mahmood, PE, to associate in the firm's Bloomfield, New Jersey, office.

As an engineer for more than 30 years, Mahmood has extensive experience in infrastructure improvement. He has provided engineering and inspection services for reconstruction projects and commercial developments, including bridges, water mains, storm and sanitary sewers, and transportation.

He is currently working on Garden State Parkway shoulder widening and improvements for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. This project includes the construction of new 12-foot wide shoulders, road treatments, the replacement of three bridges, the widening and re-decking of seven existing bridges, and 14 stormwater management basins.

Mahmood earned his master's degree in civil engineering from City College of New York. He earned a bachelor's degree in science from Karachi University in Pakistan and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan. Mahmood has completed various seminars and courses with Michigan State University, Montclair State University, Rutgers University, the American Society of Engineers (ASCE), and Marzzo Engineering. He is a licensed Asphalt Paving Construction Technologist, a member of ASCE, and the Society of Asphalt Technologists of New Jersey.
