Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently hired Wayne Sirna as project manager in the Fairfax, Virginia, office. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating water/wastewater projects in the mid-Atlantic region.

Sirna has more than 36 years of experience with operations, maintenance, safety, operator training, and construction management for numerous water and wastewater treatment facilities. He has experience in all facets of plant operations, including shift supervision, classroom and hands-on training, construction oversight, and technical assistance in operator safety, start-up, process control, and troubleshooting at water and wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, pump stations, and water distribution facilities.

Prior to joining Dewberry, Sirna served as project manager on numerous projects, specializing in preparing facility operations and maintenance manuals, facility standard operating procedures, developing award-winning safety programs, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) compliance, and conducting and facilitating operator training programs. These safety programs ensured Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance for both public-and private-sector clients in the Virginia and Maryland region.

Sirna earned his associates degree in pollution abatement technology from the College of Southern Maryland, in La Plata, Maryland. He is currently a member of the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association and the Virginia Water Environment Federation, where he served as the chairperson of the Accident Prevention & Safety Committee for several years.
