David Mahoney, PE, based in Dewberry's Fairfax, Virginia, office, has been promoted to executive vice president. Mahoney has extensive experience in transportation engineering, with a broad range of knowledge in the planning and design of major transportation improvement projects throughout the Metropolitan Washington area.

Mahoney is responsible for the successful delivery of more than $2 billion in highway projects, such as the Route 28 improvements project built using Virginia's Public-Private Transportation Act; the Dulles Greenway in Northern Virginia; and Contract C of the Intercounty Connector in Maryland.

At Dewberry, he is responsible for the infrastructure practice in the Mid-Atlantic region including the Highway, Structural, and Hydraulic Design groups. He also consults with decision makers on accelerated project delivery best practices and has been influential in promoting design-build across the region.

Mahoney is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. He participates in several industry organizations including the Design-Build Institute of America and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from South Dakota State University
