During its November 2009 National Conference, the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) recognized the Rappahannock Regional Jail Expansion and Renovation with a Design-Build Merit Award for public sector buildings over $25 million. The design-build team of Balfour Beatty Construction and PSA-Dewberry designed and constructed the 480-bed facility expansion under the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act (PPEA) of 2002.
