The fully automated hub can process 15,000 packages per hour, expandable to 45,000 packages per hour.

FedEx Ground's volume has doubled in the last decade, prompting a $170-million investment in a new Ocala, Florida, distribution hub to complement its existing Orlando facility. Our site/civil engineers and landscape architects performed due diligence, surveying and mapping, environmental services, permitting, and construction administration to help design a 580,000-square-foot facility that includes space for an additional 200,000-square-foot build-out.

The 150-acre site is strategically centralized between Atlanta, Miami, Jacksonville, and Tampa, is halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, and is easily accessible from I-75, U.S. 27, U.S. 441/301, and State Road 40. However, the region is known for suspect geological conditions prone to sinkholes. Working closely with a local geotechnical engineering firm, we conducted extensive ground investigations to identify underground instabilities and designed a pile-supported foundation that enhanced site stabilization, minimized sinkhole risks, and facilitated construction.
