The SDS design was comprised of nine tunnels, including a mile-long, 105-inch diameter tunnel under interstate I-25, two railroads, and Fountain Creek’s expansive floodplain.

The Colorado Springs Utilities’ Southern Delivery System (SDS) brings Arkansas River water, which is stored in the Pueblo Reservoir, to Colorado Springs, the City of Fountain, the Security Water District, and the Pueblo West Metropolitan District. Phase 1 of SDS was completed in 2016 and consists of three raw water pump stations, raw and finished water pipelines, and a new 50 MGD water treatment plant and finished water pump station.

We provided engineering design services, including all finished water conveyance pipelines, a large diameter raw water conveyance tunnel, technical support for compliance with the National Environmental Protection Agency’s permitting process, preliminary finished water pump station designs, and preliminary raw water conveyance routing.
