During renovation and expansion of the student union at Oklahoma State University, we reconfigured and backfilled more than half of the existing 332,000-SF facility for new uses and added approximately 30,000 SF for expanded needs. Due to the school calendar, timing of construction was an issue, so we fast-tracked portions of the project to stay on schedule.
Keeping all electronic information current and up-to-date was also a challenge. We used BIM to model the existing building with the new renovation and expansion. By offering real-time images to the owner and construction manager, as well as the design team, we worked as a team to quickly identify areas of conflict along with probable solutions.
