Childhood Dreams becoming a Reality

As I played with toy blocks and built K'NEX roller coasters as a kid, I always knew that I wanted to be an architect. My passion grew as I continued through high school drafting programs, so I enrolled in Oklahoma State University's (OSU) School of Architecture. Now in my fifth year, I'll graduate in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in architectural design.

Last spring, I couldn't have been more excited to talk to Dewberry at OSU's career fair. With an office located in my hometown, Tulsa, it was a bonus to know that I had an opportunity to intern with them.

As my summer internship now wraps up, there's one thing that stood out to me most—my co-workers. There isn't a single person who isn't willing to help you through a task. They want everyone to succeed and were always willing to provide me with the experience I needed to be successful. I worked closely with everyone in the Tulsa office, and gained a lot of experience; from drawing tiny details on a set of documents to designing a café in a cancer treatment center.

I'm sad to leave Dewberry this summer, but I've learned so much. I look forward to continuing that experience and learning more about Dewberry's capabilities. They've truly provided me with the experience and skills necessary for being a licensed architect.
