The Citadel School of Engineering’s Academy of
Engineers announced that Donald E. Stone, Jr., PE, will be inducted into its 8th
Annual Academy of Engineers. Stone, chief executive officer (CEO) of Dewberry,
graduated from The Citadel in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering.
Stone joined Dewberry in 2008 and served as the firm’s chief operating
officer (COO) and infrastructure engineering services practice area leader
until he was promoted to CEO in 2010. He has more than three decades of professional
engineering experience and has led teams of professionals engaged in a variety
of large, complex projects for institutional, industrial, municipal, and
federal clients. As CEO, he actively leads and implements Dewberry’s corporate
and market strategies, corporate growth initiatives, and has achieved company
consolidation and alignment so the firm may better serve its robust client
portfolio. He has also integrated six acquisitions, contributing to Dewberry’s
continued expansion into the Southeast and California.
“I am humbled to
receive this recognition from The Citadel,” says Stone. “My time there was
formative in my growth both personally and professionally, and if it weren’t
for the guidance from professors, faculty, and staff, I would not be where I am
today.”
Stone is a member
of the Society of American Military Engineers.
