Dewberry has announced that structural engineer Matthew Alboum, PE, has been named Young Professional of the Year for 2019 by the American Council of Engineering Companies’ New Jersey Chapter (ACECNJ).

Alboum accepted the award at ACECNJ’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards, which recognizes the accomplishments of New Jersey’s engineering industry and contributions that members have made to their local communities through engineering design and construction.

Alboum has more than nine years of bridge engineering experience involving design, cost estimates, and post-design services. Additionally, he has experience with complex interstate and highway interchange projects for clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation and New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

He earned a master’s in engineering management from Clarkson University (2016) and civil engineering from Rutgers (2011) and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Buffalo (2008). He is a professional engineer in New Jersey. Alboum is a member of Dewberry’s bridge community of practice and emerging professionals group.

“I nominated Matt for the ACECNJ Young Professional Award for his passion to continue his growth, whether it be through formal education or attending workshops and conferences, his talented design capabilities, his motivation to mentor others, as well as several other dynamic qualities that make Matt a perfect candidate,” says Dewberry Associate Vice President Bryan Garbasz, PE.
