Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has promoted Rachel Vandenberg, PE, to senior vice president in the firm’s Long Beach, California, office.

With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Vandenberg has five years’ experience with Dewberry and has overseen the growth and expansion of its ports and intermodal practice across the east and west coasts, including California, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia. Vandenberg’s experience covers a variety of multimodal projects, including feasibility and environmental studies, transportation plans, port planning and design, goods movement and logistics, and strategic planning with an emphasis on capital programming and funding. Her areas of expertise include port facilities; freight, intercity, high-speed, and commuter rail; light-rail transit, streetcar systems, and bus rapid transit.

Vandenberg has been published multiple times and has presented at events and conferences worldwide. She is an active participant in a variety of professional organizations, including the American Association of Port Authorities, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, California Transportation Foundation, Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors, International Association of Ports and Harbors, National Waterways Conference, and WTS International. Vandenberg earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley (1986) and a master’s in business administration with a focus on real estate and finance from The Anderson School at University of California Los Angeles (1991), and is a professional engineer in several states.
