Award-Winning Architect Noted for Portfolio in Healthcare, Education.

Dewberry has announced that David Huey, AIA, LEED AP, has been named president of Dewberry Architects Inc. He will oversee a national practice of more than 135 design professionals in multiple offices from coast to coast.

Prior to his promotion, Huey served as senior principal and director of Dewberry's Tulsa, Oklahoma, office, where he has been based since joining the firm in 1986. In his new role, he will continue to lead Dewberry's healthcare facilities initiative, and will also oversee the firm's work in the education, criminal justice, municipal, public safety, institutional, and commercial market segments.

Huey has been practicing architecture for 36 years, and holds a master's degree in architecture (1983) and a bachelor's degree in architectural studies (1981) from Oklahoma State University (OSU). Under Huey's design leadership, the university has been a client of Dewberry's for decades. The firm recently completed the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Medical Academic Building, a groundbreaking medical academic training facility on OSU's Center for Health Sciences campus for which Huey served as principal-in-charge. He has overseen numerous other master planning and design projects for OSU, including the renovation and expansion of the Student Union and Student Services Center on OSU's Stillwater campus—one of the largest student unions in the world; as well as all new building projects on the OSU-Tulsa campus since its inception in the late 1980s.

Other long-term clients in the educational market include Tulsa Community College, Meridian Technology, Union Public Schools, Broken Arrow Public Schools, and Tulsa Public Schools. His K-12 projects include the acclaimed design of Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School.

Huey is widely known for his expertise in the planning and design of more than five million square feet of healthcare facilities, resulting in a national portfolio of award-winning projects. He has completed many projects for Tulsa's Saint Francis Hospital and Kaiser Permanente's Mid-Atlantic Region, and more recently has designed a number of new hospitals and modernization projects for Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). His work for CTCA has included design of the Southwestern Regional Medical Center in Tulsa; Western Regional Medical Center in Goodyear, Arizona; and Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Newnan, Georgia; as well as major expansions at Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a new inpatient tower at the Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Illinois.

According to Dewberry Chief Executive Officer Donald E. Stone, Jr., "Dave Huey is an exceptional architect who enjoys the respect and loyalty of his many clients in the healthcare and educational market segments. Dave has been a design leader for Dewberry for decades, and we now look forward to his stewardship of our architectural practice nationwide."

In addition to his degrees from OSU, Huey also holds a bachelor's degree in art (1978) from Harding University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and has served on numerous non-profit boards.
