Dewberry is pleased to announce the promotion of Shepard Hockaday, PE, LEED AP, to senior vice president. Hockaday, formerly an associate vice president, is located in the firm's Raleigh, North Carolina, office and serves as the service line leader for Dewberry's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering groups.

Hockaday has 34 years of experience and has been with the firm for nearly 10 years. Throughout his career, he has managed global engineering teams, overseeing projects in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. Currently, he is involved in project scoping, client liaison, and executive management of major building engineering projects throughout the Southeast. Hockaday's wide range of expertise includes commissioning and retro-commissioning; renewable energy design; utility capacity modeling; and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design, planning, studies, and system analysis.

After earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University (1984), Hockaday went on to earn a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida (1988). In addition, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan Flagler's Young Executive Institute (1992). Hockaday is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Professional Engineers of North Carolina.
