Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has recently hired Ken Duncan, AIA, LEED AP, as healthcare project manager based in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, office. In his new role, Duncan will be responsible for leading the development and planning of outpatient and inpatient healthcare facilities.

With more than 28 years' experience in the design and construction of healthcare projects, Duncan's thorough understanding of "lean thinking" often leads to lower operation costs, reduced square footage, and lower inventory for healthcare facilities. This results in more affordable, higher quality architectural design for healthcare organizations, providers, and patients. He has developed more than 120 hospitals, clinics, and medical office buildings, totaling more than four million square feet.

"Throughout my career as a healthcare architect, I have sought to understand how to leverage our clients' resources to provide comforting, healing, and inspiring environments that offer increased operational efficiencies," Duncan says. "The United States competes in a world economy, with healthcare cost being a significant expenditure for every company. Healthcare providers should expect great facility design and planning that increases patient satisfaction and reduces overall cost. Dewberry's understanding of "lean thinking" and "lean planning" offers our clients an added advantage to improved healthcare and makes a difference in the quality of people's lives."

Duncan has a bachelor's degree in architecture from Oklahoma State University, and master's degrees in business administration and architecture from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the Medical Group Management Association.

Dewberry has an extensive portfolio of healthcare projects and has been designing hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities for more than 40 years. The firm has designed numerous facilities around the country for Cancer Treatment Centers of America and other healthcare clients.
