Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that the University of Illinois at Chicago Engineering Innovation Building has earned LEED Gold certification.
The firm provided project management, programming, concept development, architectural, interiors, furniture, and technology design services for the 57,500-square-foot building. The building houses the chemical engineering, civil and materials engineering, and mechanical and industrial engineering departments and is home to the only high-bay structural testing lab of its kind in the northern Illinois, region.
“We are ecstatic to have achieved a LEED Gold certification,” says Dewberry Senior Associate and Project Manager Jenni Betancourt, AIA, WELL AP, LEED AP BD+C, GGP. “Our team’s commitment to sustainability shines once again, resulting in an innovative space for students and staff to conduct leading-edge research, learn, and collaborate.”
The project was designed with a target of achieving LEED
Silver, but surpassed it based on the green building strategies our team implemented across the building and site.
