Residents of the Village of Romeoville, IL, recently gathered to celebrate and break ground for the community's new municipal center, designed by PSA-Dewberry. Over 100 residents, the village board, and Romeoville Mayor John Noak were in attendance at the June ceremony. The 118,480-square-foot facility combines the police station and the village hall; and the two organizations will be linked by a central meeting center, the village board room and other community meeting and conference rooms.

Mayor Noak is encouraged that "the new facility will accommodate increased community programs and public meeting space while providing a central location for municipal services." The municipal center will also accommodate city departments that are currently located in six separate facilities.

The PSA-Dewberry design features a 60-foot limestone tower that marks the entrance and creates a new civic symbol for the community. The limestone serves as a reminder of the village's history. The entire project cost is estimated at $46 million. The center is anticipated to be completed in 2010.
