Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, has announced that Darren Conner, PE, has been promoted to chief operating officer. In this role, Conner will oversee business development and strategic planning for the firm’s 60 offices, which provide architecture; construction; engineering; environmental; geospatial, mapping, and survey; planning, consulting, and advisory; and technology services.
Conner, a civil engineer by training, who has been with Dewberry for more than 40 years, most recently held the position of president of Dewberry Engineers Inc., the firm’s nationwide engineering practice. He has been instrumental to the firm’s growth through the years, which included four acquisitions since he became president in 2018. “Darren’s operational background and long-standing tenure with the firm, brings valuable knowledge in understanding our clients’ goals,” says Dewberry CEO Donald E. Stone, Jr. “His passion for serving clients and the community exemplifies his dedication to the engineering profession and communities across the nation. I’m excited to see the impact of his leadership in his new role.”
Conner earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1983) and an associate's degree in pre-engineering from Danville Community College (1981). He has been appointed chief operating officer of Dewberry’s holding company.
