Wake Technical Community College Health Sciences Building

A New Age of Sustainability for Health Science Education
Raleigh, North Carolina

We provided plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for the new five-story, 97,081-square-foot Health Sciences Building at Wake Technical Community College (WTCC). The building houses the nursing, nursing assistant, radiography, dental assistant, medical assistant, surgical technology, therapeutic massage, and medical laboratory technology programs and features classroom, laboratory simulation, and office space.

250

ton water-cooled chiller and cooling tower

Our design incorporated a number of sustainable technologies, including a 250-ton water-cooled chiller and cooling tower that reuses HVAC condensate, high-efficiency hot water boilers with hot water reheat, and a variable air volume system with fan-powered boxes. The building's fire protection system consists of a wet-pipe sprinkler system, zone control valve assemblies, standpipe hose connections, reduced pressure zone double detector check valve assemblies, and a new fire department connection.
