Civic Pride, Civic Presence: The Fairfax 2015 World Police and Fire Games

Our public safety designers have dedicated their careers to creating buildings for first responders and law enforcement agents. From California to Boston, these police and fire professionals are more than our clients, they are the people who keep our families safe. They protect our homes and respond to our emergencies.

As a thank you, we're using our participation at the upcoming Fairfax 2015 World Police and Fire Games to shower these professionals with gratitude for not only entrusting us with their projects but for making our communities safer.

Mr. Sidney O. Dewberry, standing next to the official Fairfax 2015 World Police & Fire Games' jersey, founded Dewberry in a one-room office 15 minutes away from the company's current Fairfax headquarters.

Family Commitments to Public Safety

Some of our Dewberry colleagues are tied to the public safety community as spouses or parents. To these people, our public safety clients are representations of their own sons, daughters, husbands, or wives.

Tim Smith, a security technology specialist out of our Dallas, Texas, office whose son is a police officer, feels a sense of pride whenever he's able to do anything for the law enforcement community. "Anyone in uniform reminds me of my son, and I cherish the opportunity to serve them the same way I would serve him. My son knows that Dewberry is an advocate for public safety and first responders. He has grown used to our involvement in projects that benefit his community. Our support of the Fairfax 2015 Games is just another example of what Dewberry is to him."

Elizabeth Sobecke, an engineer in our Gainesville, Virginia, office who's married to a Pentagon police officer and whose father-in-law supports his local Community Emergency Response Team, felt a particular connection to the swimming event Dewberry is sponsoring. "I was excited to find out that we're sponsoring the swimming portion of the games. My husband is a police officer, and I was a swimmer growing up, so this is a great opportunity to support both of our passions."

Johnise Molloy-Porter, a marketing manager for the Mid-Atlantic region, is married to a volunteer paramedic for Loudoun County, Virginia, just northwest of where the 2015 games are being held. Her husband, Stevan, has a personal connection to the games. "A good friend and mentor will be competing in the swimming portion. He and my colleagues believe the support of their profession is a barometer for how strong a community bond is, and Dewberry's sponsorship is proof that the barometer is high here in Northern Virginia."

Tami Wright, a marketing pursuit manager in our Peoria, Illinois, office, is particularly passionate about her husband's line of work. "My husband has been a police officer for 26 years, and I am so proud of the work he does. It takes a special person to be a cop, and it's a family commitment. Being part of a firm that sponsors the World Police and Fire Games makes this event particularly special. So special, in fact, that our family will be traveling to Fairfax so we can be present at the event."

It will be a tremendous honor to serve first responders during this event, and we do so with humble gratitude. If you're at the event and see one of us in our Dewberry volunteer t-shirts, please stop us to say hello. No matter who you are, where you're from, or what line of public safety work you do, we'd simply like to thank you.
