Dewberry announced that it has been selected by the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Central Florida Chapter as the 2019 Employer of the Year. Kevin Knudsen, PE, a vice president with Dewberry, accepted the award on behalf of the firm during a ceremony in September.
WTS is a national organization with more than
5,000 members, both men and women, with a mission of advancing women in the
transportation industry. Each year, the Central Florida Chapter recognizes a
firm that supports women in their careers both within the firm and the
industry.
“We are honored to be recognized as Employer of
the Year by such a highly esteemed organization as WTS,” says Knudsen. “Our
organization would not be where it is today without the guidance and expertise
of a diverse team of leaders. We are fortunate to have women in senior-level
positions across the firm, including here in our Orlando office.”
Dewberry’s corporate structure includes eight
primary executive positions; four of which are currently held by women. The
firm’s eight-member board of directors also includes two women. In Central
Florida, women hold two of the five senior level positions, including an associate
vice president of land development and a senior business manager. Additionally,
there are 20 women senior scientists, engineers, and planners in the Central
Florida office, with 41% of the 75-member team consisting of women.
