Dewberry, a privately held professional services
firm, has announced that Brandon Whelan, PE, has been hired as an associate and
the electrical infrastructure department manager in the firm’s Raleigh, North
Carolina, office.
Whelan joins the firm’s mechanical, electrical,
and plumbing (MEP) group with more than 20 years of experience and has spent
much of his career working on paper/pulp, chemical, mining, pharmaceutical, and
renewable energy projects. His expertise covers electrical power system
studies, electrical design, medium voltage electrical protection and control
design, and project management.
In his new role, Whelan assists clients with
evaluations and designs, and improves the reliability and flexibility of their
medium voltage power distribution systems. He is responsible for executing and
delivering power system studies and electrical infrastructure design projects
for clients in the higher education, healthcare, heavy industrial,
pharmaceutical, and renewable energy markets.

Whalen earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical
engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (1995) and is a
professional engineer in Alabama, Iowa, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio,
Texas, and Virginia.
