Dewberry announced that Charlie Newsome has joined the Raleigh, North Carolina, office as a senior construction manager in the construction group.

Newsome is responsible for leading and developing the firm’s construction practice in the southeast region, with particular emphasis on working with its local engineering team in Raleigh to execute turnkey construction projects for an array of clients, including those in the healthcare, higher education, and commercial markets.

Newsome joins the firm with more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, recently having spent the past 18 years with Riley Contracting Group, Inc. His main areas of expertise include complex multi-phased construction renovations in occupied healthcare facilities.

“Charlie has a unique understanding of the challenges of executing small- and medium-scale renovation and retrofit type projects in difficult and demanding environments, such as occupied hospitals and similar facilities,” states Dewberry Associate Vice President Robert Austin. “His client-first approach fits very well within the Dewberry culture, and he’s passionate about leading projects to successful outcomes.”

“As clients are typically focused on safety and quality, I align my business principles accordingly and strive to provide clients with high quality service that is done under strict safety standards, and will provide safe environments for the facilities’ inhabitants,” says Newsome.

Newsome graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration on construction (1984).
