Dewberry project manager and coastal geologist Sarah Hamm has been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Northeast Shore and Beach Preservation Association (NSBPA), which is a chapter of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA). Hamm will also serve as the chapter’s secretary.

The NSBPA represents members in coastal states from Maine to New Jersey. The chapter strives to address regional differences that exist in the natural environments found in the Northeast, as well as in permitting and coastal resource management, through sound technical solutions to erosion and the strategic oversight of beaches and coastal areas.

Hamm has been with Dewberry for more than seven years, and has over 15 years of experience as a coastal scientist. Hamm has extensive experience with coastal processes, flood risk analysis, and mapping. Her areas of specialty include geology, hazard/erosion analysis, Federal Emergency Management Agency flood risk modeling and mapping, wetland delineation and environmental permitting, and outreach services to impacted stakeholders and communities.

Hamm obtained her master’s degree in geology from the Colorado School of Mines (2004), and a bachelor’s degree in earth science from Bridgewater State College (1999). She is a certified floodplain manager and a member of the ASBPA Connecticut Association of Flood Managers, and Association of State Floodplain Managers.
