Dewberry has announced that Joann Papageorgis has joined the Northeast environmental team in its Parsippany, New Jersey, office, where she will manage the environmental and cultural resources department. 

Papageorgis joins the firm with more than 30 years of project management experience on complex, multidisciplinary highway and transit infrastructure projects. She served as program director of the $1.5-billion Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Program, where she expedited the planning, regulatory review, and final engineering design in less than three years. Papageorgis has successfully managed and expedited the completion of numerous local, state, and federal regulatory approvals, including those for the National Environmental Policy Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and local environmental protection regulations. More recently she supported capital planning and funding submissions for the Gateway Tunnel and Portal Bridge programs while at New Jersey Transit. 

At Dewberry, she will focus on integrating environmental regulatory considerations into conceptual planning and engineering to expedite project completion. Papageorgis’ experience in the public sector provides a unique insight into client needs and expectations for large-scale infrastructure programs.
