32,000

students

With approximately 32,000 students, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond has buildings interspersed throughout the city and is prone to a variety of hazards. Our team worked with the university's mitigation planning committee for more than a year to develop a disaster-resistant university mitigation plan. The plan included a comprehensive hazard identification and risk assessment, mitigation strategy, capabilities assessment, and human-caused hazards annex. The university is now better positioned to invest in projects that reduce risk and submit grant requests that will improve the safety of its students, faculty, and staff.
