awards recognizing project design

The Southfield Michigan Public Library is designed to inspire patrons of all ages. Set on a prominent corner of Southfield's municipal campus, the library's most active areas are on the first floor with quieter spaces upstairs. Interactive, themed environments enliven the children and teen areas. The second-floor adult fiction area is residential in style, with warm woods and comfortable furnishings. The third floor houses the history room and reference materials, and features darker woods and traditional furnishings. The library has a café, 14 group study rooms, a 154-seat auditorium, and a 200-seat meeting room.
