Richmond Bike Race

Expanding Wireless for a World Championship Event
Richmond, Virginia

500,000

onsite spectators

The Union Cycliste Internationale Road World Championship is an annual bike racing competition that brings nearly 500,000 onsite spectators. In 2015, Richmond, Virginia, hosted the international event. In order for the audience to use their phones throughout the race, we designed a temporary macro-cell site on the rooftop of an existing building. Located at the corner of Main and Pear streets downtown, the site was in close enough proximity to deliver maximum coverage to event-goers. Antennas were serviced by a ground-level mobile trailer connected to the rooftop equipment through a partially erected tower and cables.
