New Medical Education Facility and Health Clinic Serves Future Healthcare Professionals and Surrounding Community

Recognizing the community's need for healthcare professionals in this underserved part of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) Health Science Division envisioned a new facility to provide for both medical education and practice. The two-story, 45,000-square-foot building hosts the nursing, diagnostic sonography, nutritional sciences, healthcare administration, and radiologic technology programs. An advanced simulation center is at the heart of the building, where lifelike human "manikins" allow students to practice skills needed for successful job placement.

Co-located in the building is a 10,000-square-foot working community health clinic for the public, students, and their families. The clinic gives the OSU-OKC students an opportunity to perform in a clinical setting prior to graduation while providing needed access to healthcare.

An OSU-branded orange panel faces the I-40 corridor, creating a bold presence rising above the second story and concealing mechanical systems housed on the roof. Throughout the building, branded treatments and materials were incorporated in the design to establish a unique campus identity. Dewberry provided architectural, civil, MEP, and structural design.
