Increasing Wireless Services around Harvard University's Campus

We designed a data center capable of hosting equipment for four wireless carriers by integrating partitioned fencing, which maximized the usable square footage.

We designed a system with a "neutral host" so that other wireless carriers can join the system, improving coverage for all users.

We placed two 20-ton air conditioning units in an air exhaust chamber next to the data center.

A new 1,600-amp switchboard was added to the main electrical room that provides 800 amps of power to the data room, while also giving Harvard future distribution options.

We elevated the floor to maximize space and for the HVAC system to function more efficiently, while eliminating the need for overhead ducts.

To expand Harvard University’s wireless voice and data services, we created a 2,200-square-foot data center that supported a campus-wide neutral host Distributed Antenna System (iDAS and oDAS). The DAS consists of multiple antenna locations placed throughout the campus buildings that are routed back to the basement data center using fiber optic cables.

The system infrastructure was designed to meet the requirements of both our client and Harvard University. The improved DAS system can now handle a higher volume of calls while giving students and faculty a more stable connection.
