Our design provided utilities to the entire building by way of normal and emergency power as well as conditioning from a central utility plant, which houses chillers, boilers, and pumps. The building was designed in accordance with the VA's Physical Security Design Manual standards for physical security, which include blast resistance of the exterior building's facade and progressive collapse resistance using the tie-force method.

The design obtained a LEED^® Silver certification due to the use of computer modeling, an enthalpy economizer, high-efficiency chillers, condensing boilers, lighting controls, T-5 fixtures, overhangs on windows, low velocity coils and ductwork, and solar photovoltaics.
