Danville Community College: Foundation Hall

Foundation Hall offers a gateway presence on the DCC campus. The building’s design is reminiscent of an old pre-existing campus structure, known as The Castle.

Features include a fully equipped dental clinic and a clinical skills lab with advanced patient simulators in intensive care, birthing, and pediatric care rooms.

Careful planning was required to integrate varied uses–laboratories, classrooms, lecture venues, and public use–while maintaining a demanding schedule and tight budget.

Funded by a gift from the Danville Regional Foundation, Foundation Hall was constructed for approximately $6.5-million–less than the original $7.1-million estimate.

With the region surrounding Danville, Virginia facing economic challenges and a shortage of healthcare professionals, a partnership between the Danville Regional Foundation and Danville Community College (DCC) saw the opportunity to make a difference. The result—a new 26,740-square-foot health science building on the DCC campus—is now open and serving both students and local residents with a program that addresses health and wellness education and service to the community.
